Finishing Touches

Finishing the ceiling around the octagon took some doing as the pieces had to be cut to fit....each side had to be plumb while it moved around....Then we had the purlongs and rafters to work around.....

Speaking of purlongs.....when the guys came and hued the purlongs they didn't go out furr enough on one of them...so the woodcraver came to the rescue and hued it with a chain saw...a little stain and some varish and we are good to go.....always something.

As they worked around the octagon, one board at a time....making sure the cuts are perfect and no gaps......you can see by clicking on the picture of how the tree turned out......this is a 46 foot white pine from near the Cherokee National Forest and is 52 inches at the butt...........

One fellow cuts while the other fits the boards in place.....want to walk out the walkboard???? Even I wouldn't climb out there to take a pic...ROTFL.

After two days, the octagon ceiling was finished and waiting for the trim pieces to be installed next......

The amigos were already working on them......first they were hued, then hand sanded on all side to a silk finish before having two coats of hand rubbed stains applied and three coats of varish.....each being sanded between coats....
