Tile layers of America

Each new house comes together is stages....foundation, framing, plumbing and so on....we have now started to tile over 4,600 square feet of flooring and every job starts with....yes more of that dang concrete type stuff called thin set....

So here we go.......tile number uno........

Using a 3/8 groove trowel to spread out the thin set.....next you just lay it down and give it nice little squeeze....

The clauk lines are squared against one wall so each tile has a point of reference.

After each tile is set, you see if it's level and squared against your clauk lines......

Spacer are used between the tiles so there is no guess work on if the are not gaining on one corner or the other.......the spacer are ORANGE of course...these spacers are for 1/4 inch grout lines....

After setting part of the first row, then the next row is placed.......again using the spacers...

The tile layer thought he had hit Christmas in July when I dropped off a tile saw...

This saw uses water to shoot over the tile was it's being cut....this cuts down on the dust, and also makes the blade last longer....

It won't take long to lay this floor as long as the cutting is kept to a mininum...

He always is having a good time and I hate to tell him that the line of line is off center.......
