Rocky Top, you will always be......

Rocky Top, you'll always be....more then just a mantle to me...good ole Rocky Top......well the day came to set mantles....and the first one up was Gold Ole Rocky Top.....Whoooooooo.....Rocky Top Tennessee.....sorry got carried away there.
By code we had to have the bottom on the mantle more then 20 inches from the top of the fireplace so they attached a two by and even leveled it....go figure!!!!

Then came time to just pickup the mantle, carry it over and set it. Well, to get the color I wanted I had it made from Sassafras which will bring out the orange once we hit it with the correct light hue. The dang thing weighed in a 540 pounds so this wasn't just a mantle it was my mother in law....being moved.

Once they got her off the ground, I mean once they lifted the mantle up....it was, "Let's move".

Up in place she went with 5 guys yelling at the guy in the back.....Screw it in...NOW........

They had drilled in 8 lag screws that went thru the steel joints, bracing and into the mantle to hold her in place...it was a tight squeeze to say the least....no room for a donut eater.

Once there was only one or two left to screw in, the pressure was off. The music notes are from the song with the following words....Rocky Top, you will always be, home sweet home to me.

After I made a pattern of the state outline the rockers did their thing. Once I have a 1/4 inch copper stressed outline of the state done, then we will attach it will ornage neon behind the copper to shine out around the state.....but that is coming later....

The rockers are working to finish up the outside, here they are working on where the 7 AC units will set along with a 750kw generator.

When we built the retaining wall last winter, we needed about 4 more pallets of Versalok stones to finish it after buying 34 tractor trailer loads of the dang stuff. The salesman BSed us for weeks until I told them to blow it out their XXXXXXXXXXX.............anyways the district manager called me one day asking when he could come and take a few pictures, also when would we be starting the next house and how many blocks would we need for it. I advised him that wouldn't be in his best interest because we couldn't get the additional blocks and will be covering up some of the wall so it matches. The President of the company called a week or so later and I gave him an ear full and told them since this was private property that if anyone from his company showed up to take pictures to use in some promotion I would have them arrested.....plain and simple......they haven't and we are about to cover up their blocks now. $11.00 a square foot to cover up $18.00 a square foot....three steps forward and half a step back at times.

Buy on Blue....Sell on Red.......Buy on Blue....Sell on Red

Well for years now, I have been getting the latest updates from eASCTrend about what I am missing from them. The reason I get these endless emails is simple, like so many people I tried their toys one time. I mean it looks so easy, just buy on blue and sell on red...RIGHT. They even use a trailing stop auto thingie so you don't even have to think about where to place a stop to lock in those huge profits on every trade.....now how cool is that.

Of course, these charts were curve fitted to make it look like it's the only holy grail out there, but beyond that, let's take a look at this chart. You can click on the chart to make it bigger if you have to....

The first big ole blue dot on the left is of interest.....you enter the trade and using the horizontal blue line as a stop.......you got stopped out.....below your entry price......now I call that a LOSER....LOSER.....Ok......so the dang thing just kept trailing up.....and you're kicking yourself because you got stopped out.

NO PROBLEM, you say...I'll just wait for the next trade.....then we get a red dot and the "RED" bar and we go short.....using the red horizontal line as a trailing stop......how easy is this. Now look closely, because we got stopped out again about 10 bars later. This holy grail system just keeps on printing trailing stops and even moves the stop up after we got hit. Then you get the move down and again you are faced with a LOSER....LOSER....LOSER and the system is kicking the cash out of the curve fitted ATM machine.

Now we have to wait for the next trade, there it is, a blue dot and the "blue" bar and we are long, how easy is that. This one worked of course, but the real question is......faced with the results so far would you have the stones to take that last trade.

Ever sit there, chase a trade and lose, entry a trade and get stopped out before it move in your direction without you and lose, follow someone in a chat room and mirror their trades and somehow lose and feel like nothing you do is ever right or ever will be. HELL, YES if you're honest with yourself and you know that. The holy grail is not in some system, but between those ears of yours..........

If you are trying everything you can to get over the hump only to find the hump is turning into a mountain.......then it has to be something else...RIGHT?????

Windows trimmin time.........

A 2x6 western cedar had to be wrapped around the the windows.....and the key word is "AROUND" and between the curves......Each piece had to be cut, fit, re-cut, re-fitted until it fit perfectly......

After each piece was cut and ready to go into place, then still was more trimming that had to be done, to make sure the rain ran away from the windows and house they had to cut an 23 degree edge on it piece.......

As each piece was cut, stainless steel nails were used so there will not be any of those bad stains from regular nails.....and one of my jobs is to go around an play pickup because the cost of the nails....not that I am cheap....BUT.....

There were times when I thought.....nail one in....and throw two over the scaffolding, ROTFL. Once they worked to the top of the gable end they attached the bat and boards as they did on the ends.

It didn't take long for the gable end to come together. They also used a sealer to keep the water from getting behind the walls......

In theroy, this would be the last time we have the scaffolding setup this high on the front of the house, so the final coats of paint, varish, stain and sealers were applied before we started to remove scaffolding. Even the light fixtures were trimmed out and the blubs installed........SO COME ON DOWN.

It's finished, it's stained, it's painted, it's varnished, it's sealed.....and it looks great........

SO, I have a son....and he lives out on the edge just a little bit. OK, maybe way out on the edge but a great kid. All the kids have goals they need to reach in order to get the toys they want....like cell phone, TV in their room, out after 10pm,
and wheels. Once they reach those goals then they get to have rewards....so my son worked up on the hill at $8.00 an hour, studied and got the grades he needed, the school didn't call about something stupid and the police didn't call about something really stupid, home by 11, and had a smile on his face no matter what he had to do......and believe you me, I really tested him on that one....ROTFL.
He wanted a pickup truck, a Toyota and we found a very clean used one and he bought new wheels and rims before it was in the driveway......and now it looks so cool.....

Like I said, a great kid helping out doing the little things like making sure the fire blocking is nailed in......a clean cut kid......he even shaves....well once every other third week.....but he shaves....what a great young man.

Did I mention he lives out on the edge a once in a while........Ok, anytime he can find a mud hole somewhere or something to jump over.......what a great kid...

AND THE NUMBER ONE best thing to say if you get caught sleeping at your desk........
1. Raise your head slowly and say, "...in Jesus name, Amen."

Working on the gable ends....and working...and working

The plumber is lost, but at least he still has a warm cup of coffee as he looks for something......the A/C is coming along nicely as rigid pipe is starting to spread everywhere now.....

While the snow is on the roof and the roofers are MIA because of the weather....well this time I agree with them....the guys continue to trim out the corners with 2x12 western cedar.

Each 2x12 cedar plank has to have a drip edge routered on top so the water will run off the house instead of in it.

The gable end is a good place to work, at least on this side, the sun isn't in your eyes after 10am, the wind doesn't blow in you face all day.....and we forget you are up there working.......but now they are working on a bat and board siding...

It didn't take long for them to fit the boards and tight.....I had to have a couple moved at first until the understood what tight is.....and straight, which means I was out on the scafflolding with a level.

Next came two coats of sealer with a hint of redwood.....right after the first coat and within 30 minutes a second coat was applied. This will allow the boards not to get dark for at least 10-12 years down the road.

The top floor is now done......and sealed.....of yea the roofers are back after the snow melted, but it's only 3:00pm they will be leaving soon...

We had to skip an area of the octagon until the Tennessee Timber Works can delivery the roof system that fits on the main floor. but the works continues.

Anyone need any scaffolding, we will have a bunch of it for sale as soon as they finish working on the ends of the house.....just a thought!!!!

How to stop having so many losers.......

Everyday, day in and day out I get emails like we all do.....and it seems from everybody that has something to sell us, the next holy grail if you like. Over the 10 years or so I think I have attended every workshop out there, mainly because I like to connect with fellow traders, I love to travel and you never know...you just might pick up a nugget that could prove to be gold. I will admit, most of the time it's fools gold.....BUT you never know.

TradingMarket.com had two conferences in Vegas that I attended and everyday I receive at least 4 emails, Steve still has the lead. But I still read them, and click around and see what juicy stuff there might be in todays update. Eleven to Twenty four percent winners is like.........WOW.

BUT, when I clicked into the links I saw a problem.......LOSERS....LOSERS.....and who wants LOSERS....but I continued to read down the emails and there was a way to reduce the LOSERS...........

When you have a setup......like a buy....you take the long if it takes out the high of the setup bar.....GEEEEE....wish I had thought of that.....ROTFL. Telling people to trade without prices is just setting them up for failure......are you failing at trading???? Do you use price or just some lagging indicator????? WHY?????

For me.....there is a simple answer.....MON.

Are all the trading guru's the same ?
I'm sick of it now.

First the try to catch a lot of newbies like myself with free stuff. They let you show how wonderfull theire system works in hindsight. But in the meantime they are promoting charting software, brokers, seminars, and now we've busted Drbob selling trading systems ???
Inbelieveable, here's a list of guru's I looked at for learning how to trade :
- woodie/dax/gio : CCI setups, but seems to be a scam afterwards
- enthios : needed $$$ after he had enough newbies.
- logicmaster of proflogic etc... : stochastic with special parameters --> wanted money afterwards too
- croc : promoting his futurestraders
- drbob : See message below. I'm still confused of it.
- Dennis : are you next ? (FT ?)- Olm, GB, Nicktrader, Nqoos : Still ok....until now.

Lesson learned : forget the guru's and the chatrooms, learn something myself.

I have set up a separate room in Hotcomm on relay 7, TradersHaven - AMT Systems,
just for people who are using (leasing) or trialing the systems from Frank. The
room is password protected and is only for people registered with Frank. Email
me or PM me if you have received the systems and want to come into the room. I
will require a copy of the email from Frank verifying that you have been sent
the systems.

This room is just for trading the systems only and there is no discussion of
other trading methods in it. Frank does visit the room regularly and we are all
there to help get people set up and answer questions.

This is an exciting methodology for trading and has been very profitable for me
so far. Frank sends out regular updates on results and we are starting to
accumulate our own data within the room as well. We will be posting those
spreadsheets on the TH forum as we go along.

Best wishes,

We all reach a point, that we understand there is no holy grail.....no magic guru....no pie in the sky.....but if there is I only hope it either egg custard or lemon. There are people who couldn't trade themselves out of a paper bag and then there are guys who like to trade and share ideas. This second group understands there is more to trading then just one magic indicator, there is money management, trade management, fibonacci levels, square of 9, support and resistance, clustering of indicators and so on. They also understand that by sharing these ideas it can't harm their own trading because 99% of those who take a look at some idea will filter it out and move on searching for the answer.

When Robert died and by the way, I still think of him, I was asked to do a workshop because, at the time, they didn't have a replacement. Doing a workshop takes a lot of time making power points, collecting charts and examples, manuals and not to mention the time away from the family for 4-5 days. When I agreed to do the workshops, I also mentioned that they needed to find someone.......by Vegas of 2004, I recommended MarkB. I do use FT to trade and have for many many years, no doubt more years then most of you have even traded. It's a great software package and can do several things that others don't hold a candle to.

As far as becoming a guru and selling stuff......I could if I wanted to, just look what is out there these days. I have given to anyone who wants to test all the indicators I use...like I did in FT with my templates. I also gave the money that would have been "MY CUT" from the workshops to MAW and have posted the checks and if it's important can again. I am on the MAW list of donors......but others aren't. I have spoke to several trading groups across the USA...again when they wanted to cover my expenses, I advised them of the cost to come and speak and asked them to donate it to MAW, which they did.

So the bottom line is....I will still give out ideas on trading for you to consider in your trading. I will also speak around the country because I love to meet traders and visit all the great eatin places in this beautiful country. BUT, become a GURU......oh please.....to much work.....sooner add a couple of contracts and be done by 4:15pm.

When I do a workshop....one of the big things is....

When I do a workshop, I always tell people to keep a log and print out charts after the kids go to bed and you have had time to unwind with a nice dinner and maybe some yard work.....

Most don't, I would guess that either they don't know how to go about it...what to keep track off, what to study, what to look for.....and so on. Then you have those who want someone to feed them all day......just give me the short answer...the answer for that group is WALMART!!!!!!

But once in a while, someone takes an idea I throw out there and works it to death ..... you can see the spread in the upper right side. You can also see where lines were drawn on the charts in the middle and so on. What this person has done is try to find "THEIR" edge, something that they can believe in, something they can act on and reduce their stress in trading while making some money.

What are you doing? Pretending......or Understanding????????

Where are the roofers at today.....still up there somewhere

While the roofers continue to work on their part of this ....the plumber is working on the shower in the master bedroom. With 7 shower heads, we decided that we needed to have a 3 inch drain pipe to handle the water......so up it goes.

We are about 20k over budget on the plumbing and one reason is he doesn't like 90 degree joints.........so he works the pipes around by either bending flex copper pipe or two 45 degree angle joints.......which takes time...which costs money....but everything is perfect...........straight and plumb.

And while the roofers keep working on the roof....the stone masons are busy with the great room fireplace.......first up goes the scaffolding.......

The great room is 28 feet to the bottom of the rafters....so lots of scaffolding and on three sides........

While they work on the main part, the wife works on the sides and detailing it into the posts......it takes a lot of time to cut each stone to fit.

Where the word brace is, well the mantle is about 5 days out to delivery, so they skipped over that section.....also I painted the word brace....so they won't forget to brace the walls more to carry the weight....the mantle is about 800 pounds....more on that soon.....

A day off in a TENNESSEE MOUNTAIN HOME....

It's Good Friday and the markets were closed, so up to the hill I went to work on this and that.......as you can see it was mostly that......

We don't have any chairs for the front porch quite yet and it's only Spring, the June bugs and fireflies are still a few weeks away, but still the same, it was nice to just enjoy the sun, a Gatorade and the company of my best friends......

You know when you are getting old.....you WANT to take a nap, HeHe. A pillow is never a problem if you have the right blocks....of course the goldens didn't mind taking a nap either........

There is no place like a TENNESSEE MOUNTAIN HOME.......on this entire marble.

Happy Easter Everyone, relax, enjoy some time with the family and God bless ya'll.

gOOgle........oh my

What came I say.......it's all about marketing.....isn't it. Every trick that the Woodstacker and Stevie boy does.....doesn't even hold a candle to g"OO"gle
