Fly Brackets anyone?????

I'm not sure why or how these little thingies became fly brackets.......instead of braces.....but they I just live here....ok. But they are ready to be installed.

In fact, we have stacks of them it seems....all with coats of stain and 3 coats of Watco Oil........so here we go.

First thing they had to do was beef up the gable ends where these brackets will be placed....so two 2x10's were screwed into the trusses.

When the brackets are finishing being installed then lag screws help secure them to the 2x10's and trusses, along with flat washers and lock nuts.

So over they come as the crane lifts each one in place...all you have to do is guild them....YEA right, they weigh in at about 250 pounds each.

Once they are placed exactly where they belong the fun starts......they have to be plumb for one thing, but they also have to be exactly 10.75 inches from the top of the gable end....

Which is the yellow string.......up a little....no no over a little.....no... ok....boom up cable out..........good grief

Sometimes you just have to grab ahold and shove it .....over a little...

OK...you got it just were you want it...now where is the level. Yes, we do know what a level is in Tennesseeeeee....thank you very much.....HEHE

Now working up 60 feet on a 16 inch wide walk board while trying to muscle a 250 mother in law in place is just to much........and you wonder why I daytrade.

It doesn't take long when you can use a crane to move these babies, this side gets 7 brackets....and after about 5 hours they were finished....NEXT.....
