Beam in up Scotty.......

Well someone and we will not mention any name....BUT......he ordered 8 rafter tails but forgot to check the plans or measure the actual length. SO the first set we got were to short by 3.5 feet. At a cost of $1,004.00 each I blew a head gasket because they had been sanded, stained and varished with 3 coats. That whole process took a week to complete and now we had to get new ones which takes 5-8 days.

So after we unloaded them at the top of the road, the real problems started. How do you move 8 42 foot beams down to the garage area to have them finished. Well, first we have to get by the security shed and the plank on top of it.

The next problem was getting past the crane...no one wanted to have to pack that thing up and move it, including me. The retaining wall on the other side kept us from having enough room to just move them.

And we missed it by......just this much.....ROTFL.

Then came the trip across the bridge and we went very slow so they wouldn't tip over one side and end up in the National Park.

One thing that everyone totally understands is not to do ANYTHING to the trees...PERIOD. So it got a little tight coming across the bridge and they made to place ropes on the branches and pull some back until the beams passed.

Now if you take a close look outside the garage area you will see my son working.....of course this is a one in a million photo shot as they moved the beams into the garage for finishing.

So my son is trying to train his girl friend.....but in the end I think she is actually training him.....ROTFL.

How much is this house costing you to build? It seems every other piece of wood is over $1000. And you sure using a lot of it.
