No matter what the weather is like.....we keep on truckin!

The first blast of ugly cold weather ran over us and everything above 2,500 feet got a dusting of snow.......But we keep on building and drinking hot chocolate.

We keep on staining and varishing, over 60 gallons of varies stain colors and close to 130 gallons of varish.......all by hand.

Out of the swamps of Louisiana came 3,500 board feet of pecky cypress, we had to buy an addtional 2,700 to replace what we lost.

Each bourd was graded, sanded and given 3 coats of varish so they are already finished after the install into the ceiling of the great room.

The woodcravers are painting their "Pineapple/Owl, but those yellow eyes need to be tamed down a little.....

The timber frame guy left for Thanksgiving, so those cravers moved up on the third floor and began the process of adding character to the posts. They can't work while the timber frame crew is on site because of the noise. The timber framing crew is $300.00 an hour and we make sure they are a working fools.

The Monday before Thanksgiving, they started putting together the post assembly and there is a total of 8 of them. The materials were all stored on the third floor after being finished down on the first floor...need a map at times.

My job is simple, make this as easy as posible......overall that is. So when the timber guys started using their steel wire wrapped straps.....I moved right in...."STOP"..."STOP"....."What are you doin?" They did have the fiber covered straps in the truck, so it took them a few minutes to replace the other one and use these. I didn't want to have to spend days fixing marks and chipped posts or whatever after they were installed after all.

After they were put together then we moved them up to the fourth floor and staged them to be installed later that day....between the rain showers that is.

I was trading the first bar setup and missed them installing the posts, it only took about 3 hours on Tuesday and they were ready for the bottom plates.....those very long beams....that is tomorrow update.
