French History Lesson as seen by the "WORLD"

If you want to see how the world views the victories of the French Army......

1. Go to www.google.com
2. Type in "French military victories", without the quotes.
3. Instead of hitting "Search" hit "I'm feeling Lucky"

Hi Dennis,

Very funny!

Even a funier one...

1. Go to www.google.com
2. Type in "miserable failure", without the quotes.
3. Instead of hitting "Search" hit "I'm feeling Lucky"

Yeah I am french, i love americans, i have plenty of american friends here in England, I have always dreamed about going to live in the US, live the american dream, land of the free, home of the braves.

But i dont like to get insulted, specifically for all the wrong reasons....

I was devasted by 9/11 like the rest of the world, to a point when everytime i fly i get ready mentally to fight for my family and my life should *anything* happens. I take a seat close to aisle and pilot cabin so i can quickly fight back if some terrorists try to take over.

When US attacked Afganistan, US were supported by most nations including France. Yes we supported you by sending troops on the ground, but that does not make headlines... nevermind.

When US decided to invade Irak, France stood up and spoke and disagreed because we believed it was a mistake.

Wouldnt you expect from a good friend to tell you when you are wrong? Dont friends disagree?

Well in this case it looked like we took a serious bashing that lasts till now and it does not look like it will be forgotten.

If only your amazingly courageous president had listenned just a littlebit when friend french president tried to explained why it would be a very long and very difficult war, maybe US would not be in such a mess... but no Bush knew better...

With all his war experience no wonder why he was talking about war like it is a video game... "shock and awe", "lets smoke them out".

I was watching Platoon, yesterday evening, and there was a show which depected how chicken hawks made so many mistakes wasting so many lifes from their desks.

You see, Chirac, as bad/stupid/coward as you think he may be, Chirac has actually fought the Islamists in the Algerian war... He actually ***voluntered***, and saw what the war really is, he fought, he saw his men and his friends die...

I wish, we could all say that about your current chicken hawk President, a man who voluntered to go to Vietnam right? he wanted so badly to go to vietnam but somehow he was prevented from going....

France has also been the first western country to deal with Islamist terrorism when 20 years ago, Algerian islamists started a bombing campaign in the metropolitan networks of Paris...

Yes, we are fools, cowards, stupid, whatever you may feel inclined to think of us, we probably are...

But actually when it comes to terrorism and the islam world, we are somehow more qualified ; we really know what we are talking about from experience, not from beautiful theories... The war you are currently fighting we fought it already in Algeria... and we lost it.

Funny you are talking about french military defeat...

Undercover of getting terrorists, US went in iraq to maintain a strategic position in the most strategic place of the world.

It was pretty evident from the start that since day 1 after 9/11 Bush administration was interested in one thing only, finding a way to get in iraq no matter what!

D.Rumsfeld said "There are no good targets in Afganistan" when Richard Clark told him that Al qaeda were not in Iraq but in Afganistan.

So US went in, blast the hell out of the irakis, killed dozens of thousands of civilians in the process... And made richer the US corporates as well while we were at it!

The US have created the biggest playgroung for terrorists, sponsored by US taxpayers! thats right!

Before the war there was not a single terrorist in Iraq, or may be dead or in a cell... Why? because fundamentalist muslims were a threat for Saddam... Saddam was absolutly not pro-religion but pro-power and pro-dollar!

But now, Islamists are pouring in Iraq, they learn how to fight wars, how to make bombs, and then they go back to their country, and unleash campaigns of terror.

Thats exactly what we have started to witness in Europe, young people originated from Magrheb living in Italy, Spain, Germany, England, France, Belgium, are increasingly attracted at going in Iraq and fight; when they survive, they can go back and start to be real terrorists and murder people...

When Saddam started the war in Iran, guess who helped him and supported him? do you remember when D.Rumsfeld went to Bagdhad and shook his hands?
There are plenty of photos if you need memory refreshed! Who provided chimical weapons in the first instance? yes the US. Does it make you bad guys as well then?

By the way do you know who armed the talibans and contributed to the creation of al qaeda? the US again! thats right! when the US/Reagan were indirectly fighting the Soviets in Afganistan (through the Pakistani secret services).

So keep insulting the french, it is very helpful, might make you feel better. But one day you might look into the mirror and realise how right you were.

I still like the US, i like the traditional spirit of America, the spitit of freedom and righteousness, i really like. And as i said i have plenty of american friends who respect me.

But by god it is amazing how you can be so arrogant at time.

France and US actually shares the same values and actually fought together when US were figthing the British (remember Lafayette).

French slogan is "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity".

Isnt what US stands for? Freedom, being all equal in the sense that we stands all a chance to get higher up the chain and fraternity in the sens e that we are all brothers...

Isnt it the same kind of values we share?

Funny enough, you should know how much the US closest ally really despise you...

In all those years when i have worked in England, i have never ever heard so much despise for US than in England. If you think the french dont like you, you should really hear what the common Englishman has to say about the americans! You would be surprised.

Why do i bother responding to your post? may be because i like you Dennis or at least the personality you are presenting through your blog! I like the way you dont back down!

But coming on a blog to get insulted, thanks but no thanks. So goodbye!

"Bonne Continuation!"
Christophe

eidoow,

Respectfully i think you are missing the point i was trying to make.

We french (at least i) we love the US.
We are thankful for the american soldiers fallen on our shores and we honor them...

We just dont understand why americans bash our heads so hard when we tried to prevent the existing mess in the first place.

It is not diatribe, these are facts.

Thank you for reminding me (although i dont need to) about WWII. May be you remember as well about the frenchmen who died for the American War of Independance ?

Why always look at one side of the coin?

Again most of us don like America. If only you could understand that and give us a break!

Best Regards,
Christophe

PS: actually one thing that bothers me is when people who have not done anything but being born in the right place, remind others about the sacrifice of their grand parents.

I own probably every little thing i have to the fallen american soldiers but do you think i own you the slightest smallest thing eidoow?

Being born american does not give you the right to come and patronize me about my freedom when you personally have no involvment whatsoever with the WWII.

If i was the great great ...grand son of General Lafayette i would still feel no righ to patronize you about your freedom!!! Gosh you are so arrogant, it is unbeilivable!

What do you know about me ? Do you know whether or not my grandfather was a resistant who fought the nazis and got tortured to death? What do you know?

I just hate when people cover themself with the glory of their ancestors when clearly they have not done anything to themself deserve the same glory!

Eidoow

I havent run away mate. I am still here. Sorry if there is so much distance between you and me, guess what... i find it hilarious you are willing to lecture me about freedom from such distance too :-) To me thats quite an insult!

Thank for the kick in the butt, some time best way to get back on your feet. But i did not feel this one sorry.

I dont assume anything about where and how you were born. But when you start lecturing me on my freedom, i smile. Because i dont recall you personally fighting for what i have got. So we get back to the same conclusion: Please dont lecture others about their freedom because you personally havent done a monkey about it.

If you were a WWII veteran that would be different... You could insult me and i would never dare respond back to you. because i have deepest respect for the men who fought that war.

there are people in my family who are still alive and who fought the nazis and who suffured from the nazis.
Strange enough, the people who usually have really suffered dont go about talking and lecturing others... they just do their things and they keep their pain and they remember in silence. You look at them and you know what dignity, honnor, resolve means. And you just want to look up to these people and dream about never desapointing them.

May be thats why i am slighlty pissed off, because by lecturing me you are just insulting them.

Good'ay

Oh great Eidoow now you have insulted a Fenchmen. Watch out he might throw an accordion at you. I thought he left and wasn't coming back, reminds me to BoobCathy.
