Italian porcelain tile by the pallet was the order of the day as they started laying the exercise room. The tile was laid 45 degree off center to give a more interesting look.
By the end of day one......they had the easy part of this behind them.
The walls in the shower area and the urinal area are going to be made of PPG glass blocks so the light shines thru. They had used the boxes of glass block as a weight while they laid the hardwood floor...so now it's carry two at a time, for one we don't want anything dropped on the new floor and two we don't want pieces of glass all over the floor to scratch it after they fall and break.....so take your time is the order of the day.
Now if you haven't guessed the fellow in the white tank top is a linebacker and put a helmet on him and he is all over you with a look of a redneck driving to cock fight.
The theme of the house is arches and curves, so it no surprise to everyone when I laid out the glass block walls. This will be the shower area after you sweat your stones off exercising.........
Each block which is 4x4x8 has spacers between them to try and align them up....then you have to put the glass block grout (white) between the blocks.....
It's a slow go and at times I am about to explode as the tile layer are outside drawing on a weed and talking about fishin and huntin and NASCAR.....But, they have contracted the job and a solid price so I just keep banging my head on the wall....
The sauna room is on the right, and they are down to one more row of blocks until they are done with this side. The other side of the studded wall is also almost done also......that is where the urinal is.....and with no door, people both men and women have had a problem ....you know....using the thing.
The urinal will be on the wall just behind Bob....he is installing the final dark brown rope trim pieces and grouting.......it did turn out just like I wanted.....
