It was hot and the AC could handle the heat from these monitors...SO
It was hot out there in AZ in the summer of 2003, personally I think it hot out there all the time, but as the locals always try and tell ya...."It's a dry heat".
And a couple of comments were made about it was hard to see these old monitors anymore, that his eyes were getting bad. But Woodie didn't know what to buy....Sony, Samsung, Dell, Viewsonic and so on, or what size and how many pixels and on and on.
Then one day, he announced that he had received a gift from a very special friend, Dr. Famir had sent him a new flat screen and it was just great....he talked about how it was good on his eyes....the graphics were great...and very little heat.
So there was this group of us, in a private room on relay3 and we all were in the Woodies CCI Club except for two or three of us. So we decided as a jester our friendship towards Woodie, we would all chip in and buy him exactly the same monitor that the good Doctor had. Because he was not doing this for the money, but to just help people...because he know just how hard this was.
Shanti collected the money, and purchased the flat screen since he lived just around the corner and down the road....and soon Woodie had two new monitors from us.
Like I have said, these were the best of times in the CCI Club, traders really were helping other traders, and sharing information about operating systems, patches for software problems, jokes and just hanging out. So as we moved ever closer to the Las Vegas CCI Conference in Dec of 2003, our group had also made plans for Vegas, so we could be together along with all the good people we had met in the chat room. The only reason, that we were held to some kind of different level was that we gave a monitor, money to MAW in the name of Woodies CCI Club, I moderated, and the rest was also helping in different ways.
Little did we know at the time, what was really going on behind the scenes....more on that later...

And Dennis, to this day I still cannot imagine the level of effort you put into that video you showed at the Vegas Conference. That was over the top.
Enough with the suspense! Was Woodster front running the room or what!
Take your time Sport. You are writing the inside story during your "service at woodland", and all the little details only you remember are what makes these stories interesting.
Better than reading those best sellers from ex White House staff.
I have to agree, the video was a real classic. Would it be too much to ask you to put a copy on a server, so we can view it agein?
yeah yeah, yada yada, quack quack...and woodie was spying on our private room....
